How to how stock and rates work

Before stock and rates are configured, the product uses the quantity from the basic product form as its stock source. After option rows are saved, total stock becomes the sum of the option-row stock values, and pricing can vary by option. This is how the platform supports variant-based inventory instead of one flat stock number.

  • Base product stock is used until stock and rates are saved.
  • Once configured, total stock is distributed across the option rows.
  • Changing the stock value of an option changes the total stock for the product.
  • Option prices let one product sell at multiple price points without creating separate products.

Tips

  • Use the catalog table for quick status and stock review, then open the detail page when you need transactions or option-level inventory controls.
  • Use the side panel for general product setup and the Stock and Rates tab for advanced variant-based inventory.
  • If a product should disappear when unavailable, review both the out-of-stock behavior and the channel-specific hide settings together.
